Big Jay Oakerson

Big Jay Oakerson was born on December 7, 1977 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Camden County Community College, leaving a month in to pursue stand up. He’s been featured on “Crashing”, “This is Not Happening with Ari Shaffir”, Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend”, and more. Along with touring as a headliner and making various television appearances, Oakerson has his hand in both podcasting and radio. He co-hosts, “Legion of Skanks” with Louis J Gomez and Dave Smith, co-hosts, “The SDR Show”, and co-hosts, “The Bonfire” with Dan Soder on Sirius XM’s Comedy Central station.

This week, Kaizen Komedy looks at Big Jay Oakerson. Oakerson is a master at crowd work, which is obvious based on his multiple crowd work albums. He keeps the audience engaged during his set in such a relaxed manner that helps to reiterate how in control he is on stage. He has a very likable persona that keeps the crowd on board, even when he’s talking about more taboo and potentially offensive topics.
